Full description and what we offer
Crowfoot Range is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit emerging from collaboration between the Eagle 4H Club and Avimor development to solve a critical gap: there's nowhere safe and accessible for youth to learn shooting sports, nowhere for local law enforcement to train, and nowhere for responsible shooters in the Eagle area to practice.
The organization started with a simple reality—Eagle and surrounding communities needed a proper facility. Bill Godfrey, Range President, recently discussed the project on "The Ranch Podcast," detailing how six years of legal challenges were overcome to secure a conditional use permit from Boise County.
Avimor contributed 41 acres with a five-year nominal lease to establish a range that protects residential areas from stray projectiles. The project team evaluated 35,000 acres before identifying this location specifically because it minimizes risk to residents and avoids errant bullets near homes.
Current Timeline: Heavy equipment moved on-site July 2025. Crews are building range lanes and berms through fall 2025, weather permitting. Construction pauses for winter, resumes spring 2026. Estimated opening: Summer 2026.
Letters of commitment secured from: - Gem County Sheriff - Ada County Sheriff's Office (indicated willingness for training) - Eagle Police Chief Ruby (expressed interest in using facility for training)
The range exists independently of city involvement, though Eagle leadership has shown interest. Crowfoot operates with its own governance, accountability, and CUP compliance requirements.
Crowfoot emphasizes self-sustainability through: - Membership dues - Day-use fees - Private sponsorships - Tax-deductible donations (501(c)(3) status)
City of Eagle community survey (September 2025) showed strong support: 28.7% favored a monetary donation directly to Crowfoot Range, while 29.1% wanted expanded shooting sports at the existing Eagle Shooting Sports center. 300 out of 400 total responses (75%) favored supporting expanded firearms facility access, education, and training in some form.
"We are dedicated to fostering and promoting safe and responsible firearm ownership and education for this generation and the next."
Many board members and supporters are law enforcement and first responders working to make this happen. The range is designed with explicit resident protections: discounted access for Eagle residents, transparent governance, and strict adherence to CUP requirements.
