Full description and what we offer
Clearwater Outfitters has been guiding hunters and anglers through Idaho's Clearwater National Forest since 1964. Owned by Roger and Ginger Haworth since 2005, this family operation runs out of a base camp on Smith Ridge with access to over 160 square miles of pristine National Forest terrain in the Mallard Larkin Pioneer area.
"Roger and Ginger are amazing people and well versed for the country they guide in. Roger does an amazing job putting people on the animal and gives an amazing experience not only with the hospitality but also the country." — Eric Dodge, client review
Every hunt follows the same structure: 7 days total with 2 travel days and 5 full days of hunting. Clearwater Outfitters offers:
All hunts include expert guides, camp meals, lodging, and transportation within the hunting area. Licenses, tags, and gratuities are separate.
| Option | Price | Best For | Details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Guided Hunt | $3,750 per hunter | First-timers & serious trophy hunters | One-on-one guide, all meals, base camp lodging |
| Dropcamp | $3,500 per person | Experienced hunters seeking independence | Self-guided, equipped camp, transportation provided |
| Non-Hunting Guest | $1,500 | Companions & photographers | Meals, camp access, wilderness experience |
Both camp options prioritize comfort without sacrificing the wilderness experience:
Base Camp on Smith Ridge: - Wall tents with internal wood frames and woodstoves - Comfortable cots and gravity-fed running spring water - Hot showers available - Dutch oven–cooked camp meals
Backcountry Camps (Dropcamp locations): - Durable wall tents with dirt floors and firewood - Cots for restful sleep - Fully equipped for cooking and camp setup - Remote, game-rich locations
Cook fires fuel more than just hunters. Clearwater Outfitters' meal program emphasizes hearty, homecooked fare—much of it prepared in Dutch ovens using wholesome ingredients. Breakfasts fuel morning hikes; dinners provide recovery after long days glassing ridges and stalking game.
