Patriot Defense is built on a simple philosophy: you don't need to attend high-dollar shooting schools or learn from tactical instructors to master the basics. Owner and NRA-certified instructor Todd Eccles has spent 20 years in Idaho shooting, hunting, and carrying a concealed handgun. That practical experience is what he teaches—not theory, not competition shooting, not tactical operator nonsense.

Eccles doesn't have a military or law enforcement background. He's a husband, father of five, and someone who learned handgun fundamentals the same way most responsible gun owners do: through years of actual carry and range time. That perspective matters. His instruction is patient, supportive, and designed for ordinary people who want solid information without the intimidation factor.

Patriot Defense serves Magic Valley, Twin Falls County, and surrounding areas including Filer. Classes include:

2026 Shooting Academy (Men's & Women's) - Fundamentals progression for new shooters or those sharpening basics - Defensive mindset and open-hand combat drills - Stop-the-bleed first aid component - Range drills and shooting simulator practice - All-day immersion format

Idaho Enhanced Concealed Carry Class - State-required permit certification - One-day completion - $95 per person - Multiple dates: August 2nd, September 6th, October 4th

Private Handgun Training - One-on-one instruction for any age - Covers grip, stance, sight picture, accuracy - Winter classes held in heated indoor facility - Tailored to student comfort level

Shooting Fundamentals 1, 2, and 3 - Progressive skill building - Beginners through intermediate - Small group or private options

Kids Safety and Introduction to Firearms - Age-appropriate handling and safety rules - Hands-on firearm examination - Live fire when age/size permits - Approximately 2 hours - No firearms or ammunition needed to attend

Church Security Group Training - Multi-class progression for security teams - Covers team setup and fundamentals - Includes holster draw, target acquisition, mag changes - Qualification procedures and timed finals

The operation includes both classroom and outdoor range space. Winter classes move to a heated indoor facility, making year-round training practical in Idaho's climate.
