Full description and what we offer
White Peaks Outfitters operates guided elk and bison hunts on thousands of acres of privately managed game ranches in southeast Idaho, near Nounan. Founded by hunters with over 13 years in the business, they've guided hundreds of hunters through the Rocky Mountain terrain. The operation centers around their custom lodge completed in 2017, which serves as both headquarters and full-service accommodation for hunting clients.
The outfitter runs hunts from August through March, with elk seasons extending into January and bison hunts available year-round through March. Their private ranch setup means they're not subject to general Idaho muzzleloader restrictions, giving hunters more flexibility with equipment choices.
Operates on private ranches with no draw tags required - all elk licenses and tags are included in hunt packages.
White Peaks offers several tiers of elk hunts based on trophy size, measured by Safari Club International scoring:
All 3-day hunts include lodging, meals, guide services, field dressing, trophy photos, airport shuttle from Salt Lake City, and all required licenses and tags. Hunters can upgrade to larger trophy classes once at the ranch, with the deposit applied to the final balance.
The outfitter provides comprehensive hunt support including Salt Lake City airport pickup and drop-off, which is about a 2-3 hour drive to the ranch. They accommodate various weapon types including high-powered rifles (.270 caliber or larger recommended), muzzleloaders, pistols, archery equipment, and crossbows. Shot distances typically range from 20-50 yards for archery and 50-125 yards for firearms.
Meat processing is available through local processors in Montpelier, Idaho for rush orders, or their Utah facility for regular shipping orders. Processing runs $0.85 per pound for paper-wrapped or $1.25 per pound for vacuum-sealed packaging, based on hanging weight. They can ship processed meat nationwide on refrigerated trucks or help hunters transport it home in coolers.
Taxidermy services are coordinated through approved taxidermists in Idaho, Utah, and Arizona. Shoulder mounts average $1,400, pedestal mounts $1,700, and European mounts $300, with 9-12 month turnaround times.
The custom lodge features private bedrooms with bathrooms, spacious common areas, and mountain views. All meals are prepared on-site with homestyle cooking including beef, seafood, Italian, Mexican, and barbecue dishes. The lodge includes big screen TV with satellite channels, linens, towels, and basic bathroom necessities.
Weather varies significantly by season, with August temperatures ranging from 48-80°F, dropping to 14-28°F in December and January. The location puts hunters within driving distance of several national parks and attractions, including Bear Lake State Park (1 hour), Jackson Hole (2.5 hours), and Yellowstone (3 hours).
"Our commitment here at White Peaks is to provide you with personalized customer service coupled with breath-taking scenery, luxurious accommodations, excellent food, and big bull elk!" - Greg Golightly, Owner
