Full description and what we offer
The Bullet Trap handles Illinois concealed carry licensing from start to finish. They're located at 279 N Front Street in Macon and operate as an ISP-approved training facility.
Illinois law requires 16 hours of classroom instruction plus live fire qualification. The Bullet Trap splits this into two 8-hour classes:
1. Basic Pistol Safety Class (BPSC) — 8 hours using SIRT laser training guns 2. Concealed Carry Class (CCC) — 8 hours with live fire qualification
You can opt out of the BPSC if you've completed equivalent training: NRA Basic Pistol certification, military service (DD-214), law enforcement background, or any approved 4-hour courses like Utah/Florida/Nevada CCW or Illinois Hunter Safety.
All range time happens during the first 2 hours of class. You'll shoot:
They take this seriously. If you don't meet safe handling standards, proper gun control, or the 70% score, they'll refund your class and recommend additional training. They want you successful on your first attempt, especially if you haven't fired in years.
| Class | Requirements |
|---|---|
| BPSC | Nothing — they provide SIRT guns |
| CCC | One handgun + 100 rounds of ammunition |
Your Illinois CCW is recognized by 28 states including AK, AZ, ID, IN, KY, MI, MO, NV, TN, UT, and more. Check reciprocity laws before traveling.
