You need 16 hours of classroom instruction to apply for an Illinois concealed carry permit. JJC breaks it into two courses: the NRA Basic Pistol Course (8 hours) and the Illinois Concealed Carry Permit Training Course (8 hours).
Range time is scheduled individually with your instructor—JJC works with you on timing. You pay the range fee directly to Rink's. Sessions run February and April 2026.
Military exception: Active duty, retired, or honorably discharged service members can skip the NRA course if they provide a DD214 copy.
Must be 21+ to apply for permit (20+ to enroll). Valid FOID card (Illinois residents), state ID, and ability to legally possess firearms required. Don't bring firearms or ammo to the college.
