The NRA is the national standard for safe, responsible firearms instruction, and Defcon-1's instructors have extensive experience delivering their full course catalog.

Basics of Pistol Shooting (8 Hours) The updated replacement for discontinued NRA beginner courses. Covers handgun safety, revolver and semi-auto fundamentals, with classroom instruction followed by range practice. Available in two formats: traditional instructor-led or blended learning (e-learning at home plus range session).

NRA First Steps Pistol Orientation Abbreviated program covering the most fundamental shooting skills and specific pistol model details. Designed for new gun purchasers.

Personal Protection Inside the Home (8 Hours) Teaches safe and efficient handgun use for home defense, self-defense law, and responsible ownership.

Personal Protection Outside the Home (16+ Hours) Comprehensive concealed carry training covering avoidance tactics, skills for safe use of a concealed pistol, and responsible self-defense outside the home.

Range Safety Officer (9 Hours) Develops NRA Certified Range Safety Officers with the knowledge and skills to organize, conduct, and supervise safe shooting activities.

Refuse To Be A Victim® (4 Hours) Personal safety strategy course covering situational awareness and threat avoidance.
