Safe Sound Handgun Training

Neil Keenan, owner and lead instructor at Safe & Sound Handgun Training, is an Illinois State Police/NRA/USCCA/US Law Shield certified instructor and Range Safety Officer. Classes run out of Fox Valley Shooting Range in Elgin, Illinois—all training happens on-site at the range.

• •Intro to Pistol Shooting — 2 hours ($125 per 2 students)
• •1 hour classroom, 1 hour live fire
• •Covers safety rules, pistol features, ammunition basics, grip and sight picture, loading/unloading, storage, and maintenance
• •No experience needed. Rentals available if you don't have a gun.

• •Advanced Pistol — 2 hours ($150)
• •Builds on basics with speed shooting, magazine reloads, malfunction clearing, single-hand shooting, and the difference between precision and defensive shooting
• •Range time, gun rental, and ammo included

Neil emphasizes Total Participant Involvement (TPI) with a blended approach: instruction, demonstration, and hands-on range work. He designs progressive training plans for students new to pistols and for those preparing for self-defense scenarios. His credentials include certifications through Safe Shot Firearm Academy, Top Shot Academy, Academy of Tactical Training and Security, USCCA, NRA, and US LawShield—plus CPR and First Aid certification.
