DAVAD Defense is a Chicago-based firearms training operation run by active and retired law enforcement with serious credentials. The team includes current Chicago Police officers, retired CPD sergeants with 30-year careers, and a former FBI SWAT operator who ran the Chicago regional training facility.
Daniel Lombard (Founder/Head Instructor) — 12+ years with Chicago Police, nine on the Gang Unit executing high-risk warrants. Certified by the Secret Service Academy, FBI, and trained in active shooter response, low-light tactics, and precision rifle.
Alex Silva — Nearly 30 years with CPD, served as Firearms Training Supervisor. Certified by FLETC as a Distinguished Weapons Expert. Only instructor trainee in FLETC history to score perfect qualifications with every weapon.
Karl Heger — 28 years as FBI Special Agent, 23 years as Chicago FBI SWAT operator, promoted to Bravo Team Leader. Trained 400+ agents in firearms, tactics, and active shooter response.
Drew Kavanaugh — Marine Corps veteran, 40+ years shooting experience, specializes in private lessons for beginners and intermediate shooters.
