Full description and what we offer

Wheeler's Firearms and Safety Training operates as a Series LLC with three specialized branches: firearms instruction (WFST), self-defense tactics (SDT), and military-style fitness (MSF). The setup lets them offer layered training rather than just gun courses.

Kevin A. Wheeler, the Master Instructor and Manager, carries credentials most instructors don't have:

  • Marine Corps: Foreign Weapons Instructor, MCMAP Martial Arts Instructor, Combat Hunter certified
  • NRA: Training Counselor, Chief Range Safety Officer, Certified Pistol/Rifle/Shotgun Instructor, Personal Protection (Inside & Outside Home) Instructor
  • State: Illinois Police Certified concealed carry instructor with active firearms training licenses
  • Specialized: Taser Academy certified trainer (law enforcement and civilian), Simunition certified, ASP tactical weapons instructor, SABRE personal safety instructor, American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED

Assistant Manager Stefanie Blanco-Wheeler and Instructor Jermie M. Miller both hold NRA instructor certifications and Illinois concealed carry instructor credentials.

  • Illinois Concealed Carry Courses – State-required certification
  • Taser Pulse & 7CQ Training – Non-lethal options
  • Virtual Gun Range – Enhanced situational training at their Roselle facility
  • Firearms Instruction – Basic to advanced pistol, rifle, and shotgun
  • Self-Defensive Tactics – Hands-on combatives and personal protection
  • Military Fitness – Combat-style conditioning

They work with complete beginners (never held a gun, no self-defense experience) all the way to experienced shooters seeking recertification, proficiency improvement, or credential expansion. Their instruction model emphasizes fundamentals first—building competency and confidence before moving to intermediate and advanced work.

Their unique gun club (CRC) gives students ongoing access beyond one-off courses.
