Full description and what we offer

Willis Home Defense provides firearms instruction backed by California state certification (DCA, BSIS), NRA credentials, and USCCA instructor status. Whether you're picking up a gun for the first time or renewing your CCW, the training is built around your actual situation—not a one-size-fits-all curriculum.

The shop is an authorized provider for Riverside County and San Bernardino County CCW training. New applicants need the legal 16-hour course to meet safety and qualification requirements for county sheriffs. Existing permit holders can do the 8-hour renewal through Willis Home Defense as well.

Note: California SB2 changed training requirements and costs—contact directly for current details.

  • Basic Pistol - Lecture-heavy intro for shooters with zero or minimal handgun experience
  • Ladies Only Basic Pistol - Same fundamentals, smaller group focused on confidence-building
  • Basic Shotgun - Covers 12, 20, or .410 gauge; home defense vs. pistol trade-offs, ammo types, storage, and accessories
  • Night Pistol - Intermediate/advanced pistol training with flashlight work (attached or handheld) and low-light problem-solving
  • BSIS Firearms Training - Preparation for Bureau of Security and Investigative Services exposed weapon permits
  • Private Lessons - One-on-one or small group training customized to your skill level and weapon choice
  • Quick Shoot - One-hour maintenance sessions ($75) scheduled weekly for shooters who need skill refreshers but lack certification requirements

The instructor brings over 20 years of qualification experience and holds POST certification (#22002164013002) along with state firearms instructor credentials.

They don't assume all students start at the same place. Beginners get proper function, handling, safety procedures, and dos/don'ts. Experienced shooters get refresher training tailored to their current level. The ladies-only option removes intimidation factor—bring a friend if you're hesitant. Quick Shoot sessions prove that shooting is a perishable skill, and they've built affordable ways to maintain it when certification isn't the goal.

All training addresses personal protection in the home, which is the core mission.
