Whidbey Arms nearly disappeared in 2017 when the original owner decided to leave the firearms industry. But two employees—Craig Justus and Mark Henny—stepped in to keep South Whidbey's only gun shop open.
Both lifelong islanders and passionate about the shooting community, Justus and Henny purchased the business to preserve this resource for local shooters.
Craig Justus (Freeland resident) had been managing the shop and knew the operation inside-out. Mark Henny, a Clinton resident and member of the family that owns Whidbey Telecom, brought business acumen and local roots. Together, they took over from Jim Childers and launched a grand reopening in June 2017 with specials up to 50% off.
