Lizard Creek Gun Dog is a gun dog training kennel and upland guide service established in 2024 by Aaron Webbink and his wife Hailey. Located south of Bradgate near Pocahontas in Northwest Iowa, the operation focuses on getting hunting dogs ready for real work—and getting hunters into birds.
Aaron builds training around what dogs actually need to hunt. Programs run from one-day workouts to 16-week advanced courses:
| Program | Duration | Cost | Requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| One Day Workout | 1 day | $150 | None |
| In-Person Sessions | 2 hours | $250 | None |
| Kick Starts & Tune-Ups | Flexible | $50/day ($250 min) | 6 months old |
| Basic Obedience | 6 weeks | $1,200 | 6 months old |
| Bird & Gun Intro | 2 weeks | $500 | 6 months old |
| Trained Retrieve (Force Fetch) | 6-8 weeks | $1,500 | 6-8 months old |
| Intermediate Waterfowl | 10 weeks | $2,500 | 8 months old |
| Intermediate Upland | 12 weeks | $3,000 | 8 months old |
| Advanced Gun Dog | 16 weeks | $3,500 | Intermediate graduate |
Basic Obedience teaches sit, stay, heel, down, place, come/here, and leave it—both on leash and with e-collar conditioning.
Bird & Gun Intro introduces dogs to wings and dead gamebirds, then proper gunfire exposure. No surprises when it matters.
Trained Retrieve runs table work through ground drills, ending with dead game retrieval from field conditions.
Intermediate Waterfowl adds live and dead bird retrieval across land and water, e-collar work, blind obedience, and hunt simulation including gunfire and game calls.
Intermediate Upland focuses on search, pointing or flushing (breed dependent), whoa commands, honoring, e-collar conditioning, and live/dead gamebird retrieval.
Advanced Gun Dog picks up where Intermediate ends—fieldwork heavy, with honoring retrievals, steadiness to wing and shot, and advanced direction and whistle commands.
All board and train programs require current vaccination records (rabies, distemper, parvo) and a 20% deposit at booking. Remaining balance divides into monthly payments.
Hunting dogs staying for boarding work while owners are away at $50/day ($250 minimum). Keeps them sharp, gives them exercise, and beats kennel stress.
Lizard Creek runs guided hunts across 1,000+ acres of privately owned habitat in Northwest Iowa's strong wild bird population.
Season runs October 25, 2025 to January 10, 2026. Hunters shoot 8:00am to 4:30pm daily, follow professional guides through fields behind trained dogs, and field lunch is provided. Guides clean and package harvest to preference.
Daily rate: $250 per hunter. Up to 5 hunters per group; larger groups available by special request.
Iowa daily limit is 3 roosters per person with a 12-bird possession limit. Hunters must carry valid current Iowa hunting license, appropriate firearm and ammunition, blaze orange, and handle their own transportation when applicable.
Lodging not included, but Pocahontas and surrounding areas have multiple options within short driving distance.
