Full description and what we offer
Drop Zone Paintball Park operates 80+ acres of playing area west of Baldwin, Kansas, in a forested creek valley within Franklin County. The park serves players from Baldwin, Lawrence, Topeka, Ottawa, Manhattan, Olathe, Overland Park, Shawnee Mission, and the greater Kansas City region.
The terrain setup is intentional: large oak trees provide shade while hillsides block wind. This means you're playing in actual comfort, not baking in an open field.
Current Courses:
| Course | Style | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Castle | Scenario | Large fort with towers and catwalk. Play offense, defense, or use it as a centerpiece obstacle |
| Speedball | Fast-paced | Up to 10 per side (ideal 5-7). Most spectator-friendly, right next to main safety zone |
| Dog Leg | Tactical | Named after creek. Plays multiple ways: short version with hyper-tube bunkers or full 200+ yard expansion for large groups |
| DeadWood | King of Hill | Coming soon. Steep terrain overlooking Speedball |
| Woodlands | Classic woodball | Opening Q1 2025. Trees and terrain, 10-man field |
| OverWatch | New woodland | Opening Q2 2025. Overlooks Castle from park's highest point |
These courses feature multiple variations and iterations throughout the season—same field, different game setup.
Low-impact uses .50 caliber paintballs instead of standard .68 cal. The math:
- •1/3 the energy of standard paintballs = less sting
- •Lighter weight gear for kids (air bottles use less pressure, so smaller tanks)
- •Less mess from smaller projectiles
- •Shorter effective range but frees players to move more aggressively
