Lazy J Outfitters operates across east-central Kansas near Lyndon, hunting grounds centered within 20-30 miles of Melvern Lake, Pomona Lake, and Flint Hills National Wildlife Refuge. The property is 90% family-owned—not leased or over-run land—and holds strong waterfowl numbers throughout the season.
All hunts are fully guided. You'll hunt over large field spreads or cattle ponds and watershed ponds, with guides choosing between A-frame or layout blinds depending on conditions and your preference. Guests are welcome to help set up and tear down but aren't required to.
Typical hunt schedule: - Morning hunts usually end by 10:30-11 AM - Evening hunts available based on bird activity, morning success, and guide discretion - February goose hunts include one hunt daily (typically morning, variable by patterns)

If you want to hunt different locations or decoy spreads in the same day (morning ducks at one location, afternoon geese at another), that counts as two hunts—add $225 per person. Hunting the same spread all day counts as one hunt.
Lodging packages include three meals daily. The lodge has a fully furnished kitchen and grill/smoker for client use. Grocery stores and restaurants are 5-15 minutes away.
Firearm & Ammo: - 3-round max plugged shotgun (12 or 20 gauge recommended) - Approximately one box of shells per hunt - 3" or 3.5" BB or #2 shot for geese; #2-#4 for ducks (guides recommend #2 as default)
Clothing & Gear: Temperatures range 15-50°F. Bring waterproof outerwear, camo coat and hat, warm gloves, rain gear, face mask, ear plugs, headlamp, blind bags, extra socks, and sunglasses. White beanie if snow is forecast.
Other Items: Hunting license, waterfowl stamp, HIP stamp, federal waterfowl stamp, camera, cooler for birds.
Shooting range available for sighting in rifles or muzzleloaders. Bow targets (crossbow and compound) also on site.
