Mama Bear Defense operates firearms training across three states, with locations in Wichita Kansas, California (Solano and Kern counties), Utah (Salt Lake City, Utah County, and Northern Utah). Founder philosophy is straightforward: help people gain skills and knowledge to protect themselves and their families from life-threatening situations.

Kansas Concealed Carry Handgun License — $120 - 8-hour class (can be split across multiple days) - Includes passport photos, application, written test, shooting test - 39 states reciprocity — highest continental US coverage - Classroom portion can be held at your house; food allowed - Bring: firearm, 50-100 rounds of ammunition, lunch, snacks/drinks - Contact to schedule; location TBD
Introduction to Handgun — $20 - ~1 hour classroom - No firearm required (laser dryfire practice available) - Covers handgun types, universal safety rules, buyer considerations - Ideal for first-time buyers
Handgun Sampler ICT - Shoot multiple calibers: .22, .38 Special, .380, 9mm - Range fees, hearing/eye protection, guns, ammunition, and instruction included - Try before you buy—determine what you actually like - Closed-toe shoes required
Private Class Level I & II Handgun - Accuracy development - Malfunction handling (jam clearing) - One-on-one or small group instruction - Location TBD; contact to schedule

Mama Bear Defense is taught by women instructors who don't discriminate. They teach all genders, races, religions, and orientations. The goal isn't gatekeeping—it's replacing fear with focused confidence. All experience levels and questions welcome.
Beyond Kansas, they offer:
Range Education Series: - Level I — Shooting Fundamentals (sight alignment, trigger control, grip, stance, breath control, accuracy troubleshooting) - Level II — Malfunctions (Type 1, 2, 3 malfunction clearing; shooting after misfire) - Level III — Holster Draw (safe draw, speed draw, different concealment types) - Level IV — Advanced Skills (tactical reload, speed drills, moving and shooting, comprehensive testing) - Ladies Shoot ($5 + optional $10 for ammo; informal, safe shooting environment)

Classes focus on skill building over intimidation. Classroom content at someone's house? Done. Eight-hour CCW split across multiple days? No problem. Laser dryfire for learners without firearms? Available. They understand that people come with different schedules, budgets, and comfort levels.
The curriculum emphasizes essential skills: malfunction clearing, sight alignment, trigger control, and safe holster draw. These aren't optional—they're foundational for anyone carrying or owning a firearm.
