Wingler Firearms Training, LLC is run by Paul Wingler, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and NRA-certified instructor operating in Overland Park, Kansas and surrounding areas. The operation centers on one core idea: "Promoting Safety through Education; Building Confidence through Knowledge and Training."
Wingler doesn't teach marksmanship as an abstract skill. Instead, he builds drills around real situations—home defense scenarios, concealed carry readiness, and situational awareness to avoid conflict entirely. His background as a Marine shows in the structure: each course builds on the previous one, emphasizing that skill development is cumulative.
Basic Pistol Safety & Concealed Weapon License (4 hours) This is where people start. You'll cover: - Pistol safety rules, parts, and operation (revolvers or semi-automatics) - Ammunition compatibility, identification, and malfunction recognition - Shooting fundamentals from the two-handed standing position - Live fire practice on the range - Safe firearm selection, cleaning, and storage
You get the NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure and a completion certificate.
Beyond the Basic Pistol Shooting I (2-3 hours) Focuses on accuracy, dexterity, precision, and speed: - Stances and grip technique - Sight alignment and sight picture refinement - Trigger control and shot placement - Dry fire practice importance - Live fire drills
Beyond the Basic Pistol Shooting II (2-3 hours) Builds on Level I with new techniques: - Flash sight picture (rapid target acquisition) - Strong-hand and weak-hand grip control - Drawing safely from a holster (including with a cover garment) - Close-range defensive shooting - Multiple target engagement drills
Beyond the Basic Pistol Shooting III: Basic Defensive Pistol (3-4 hours) The advanced course covering full defensive scenarios: - Defensive drawing from holster with cover garment - Slow, timed, and rapid-fire trigger control - Multiple target engagement under stress - Close-up defensive firing techniques
Bring 300-350 rounds, two magazines minimum, a cover garment, and your own eye/hearing protection.

"Accuracy, Dexterity, Precision and Speed are all necessary marksmanship skills that not only give more pleasure to shooting a firearm but skills required for personal protection."
Every drill is practical and applicable. Wingler develops scenario-based training that reflects real situations. Range safety is emphasized at every level—safe loading, firing, and unloading are fundamentals repeated throughout.
