Down Range Products began in early 2012 when founder Todd Ferguson got frustrated with his Hi-Point carbine's factory charging handle—specifically the roller mechanism that pinched his finger. Instead of complaining, he designed his own using his CNC machine shop. It worked. Hi-Point shooters loved it. That single part became the foundation for a full manufacturing operation.

Everything is made in-house on CNC machines. Their current catalog includes 383+ products across several core categories:

Barrel Thread Protection & Adapters - 222+ barrel thread protectors in handgun and long gun configurations - 44 barrel thread adapters (converting between standard threads like 1/2" x 28, 5/8" x 24, metric left-hand, etc.) - Thread protector blanks for custom builds

"These shims are much higher quality than what most companies from overseas," Ferguson notes. "I've had a lot of gunsmiths comment on how nice they are for indexing barrel accessories."

Most products come in two material options: - Stainless steel ($10-15 range for crush washers/jam nuts) - Carbon steel ($7.95-10.99 range) - Custom thread adapters run $14.99-$29.99 depending on configuration - Muzzle brakes typically $29.99

Shipping: Free USPS First Class Mail with tracking to all 50 states. No APOs, FPOs, or territories due to ITAR restrictions.

Returns: 14-calendar-day return window from delivery date. Items must be unused. Buyer covers return shipping, and the original shipping cost is deducted from refunds.

Incomplete Orders: Must be reported within 14 calendar days of receipt.

Down Range Products sold on eBay for 3+ years before launching their own e-commerce site in 2015. They maintain a customer gallery showing installed products: Hi-Point carbines with knurled charging handles, muzzle brakes with custom colors (red handles popular), and barrel shroud combinations.
