Moss Bluff Shooters conducts Louisiana concealed carry classes that combine classroom instruction with live-fire range qualification. Classes are taught by Terry Ardizzone and include everything required to apply for a Louisiana Concealed Handgun Permit.
Each class includes: - NRA Basic Pistol Course curriculum - Personal defense training - Detailed instruction on Louisiana concealed carry laws - 36-round range qualification - Proof of training certificate for permit application
Classes are held Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The classroom portion meets at CrossRoads Church, 338 N. Highway 171 in Moss Bluff. The range portion happens at 3632 N. Highway 171 and can be done the same day or scheduled separately.
Next scheduled class is March 7, 2026. Summer classes will be announced soon.

A $25 deposit holds your spot and applies toward the class fee. Pay the remainder through Zelle, PayPal, Venmo, or mail check. Full payment can be made anytime before class or on the day of instruction.
- •Firearm: Not required to own one. You can shoot their gun for the cost of ammunition, or bring your own (any size or caliber). Using your intended carry gun is recommended but not mandatory.
- •Ammunition: Bring 36 rounds for qualification. FMJ ammo or .22 rounds work fine if you want to save defense ammunition.
- •Other: Ear and eye protection required. Extras available if needed.
You'll receive a proof of training certificate. To get your permit, apply directly with Louisiana State Police online at https://www.lsp.org/services/concealed-handgun-information/. LSP charges separate permit fees:
- •5-year permit: $125 (ages 21-64), $62.50 (65+, active military)
- •Lifetime permit: $500 (ages 21-64), $250 (65+, active military)
- •Veterans: Free permit fee (but need proof of training)
First-time applicants who haven't lived in Louisiana for the past 15 years pay an additional $50 fee to LSP.
New applicants must also submit two sets of fingerprints to LSP. Digital prints at LSP headquarters in Baton Rouge are recommended. Alternatively, get ink prints from Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office by calling (337)491-3700.
