Pistol Practice started with a simple mission: help shooters stop punching holes and start building real skills. John Kolis, a NRA and USCCA certified firearms instructor, created this platform 16 years ago after watching too many shooters waste range time and ammunition on unfocused practice.
His introduction to shooting came early—his father taught him .22 rifle fundamentals in upstate New York woods. That foundation shaped his approach: marksmanship isn't mysterious, but it does require purpose.
Spiral-bound, 6" x 9" format that fits in your range bag. 20 chapters of progressive drills, challenges, printable scoresheets, and custom targets. Each drill scales with your ability—scoresheets grow as your skills improve.
"Every new drill is something that I can use in class as an instructor. This has drills I haven't found anywhere else up to this point." — Brian, firearms instructor

The book solves a real problem: most shooters have no plan when they go to the range. Without structure, you just punch holes and hope. With Pistol Practice, every trip has an agenda.
"The only difference between a beginner and an advanced shooter is executing the fundamentals and getting a volume of reps. John has published a book that gives a clear glide path for training excellence." — David Howlett, Next Level Training (SIRT laser pistol developer)
"I have for years been creating a book like this for myself. This gives newer shooters the challenge they need beyond silhouette targets." — Timothy R., longtime shooter
"I purchased the Pistol Practice books to use with our ladies group. We have three separate groups meeting at three different ranges each month. The information and exercises are spot on for all levels and ages." — BarbH, 2A Sisterhood of Tennessee

1. Pick your level – Beginner, intermediate, or instructor-focused 2. Choose your format – Book, eLearning, or bundle 3. Train with purpose – Follow the drill progression, track scores, measure improvement 4. Scale the challenges – Each drill adjusts as you get better 5. Repeat – Marksmanship is perishable without consistent practice
Free Resources: Pistol Practice publishes a blog and maintains a network of affiliated instructors nationwide who teach these same methods.
