Tangipahoa Practical Shooters, Inc. (TPS) has been a cornerstone of the practical shooting community since its founding in 1981, originally known as Tangi Combat Shooters. Today, the club boasts over 145 active and inactive members who regularly participate in competitive shooting events and practice sessions.
Located in Amite, Louisiana, TPS operates its matches at the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Range at the end of Storey Road. The range is open to the public on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with the following exceptions: - 1st Saturday: Closed for monthly match - 4th and 5th Saturdays: Close at noon for match setup
TPS is affiliated with major practical shooting organizations and hosts: - USPSA sanctioned matches on the 4th and 5th Sundays - IDPA sanctioned matches on the 3rd Sunday - Outlaw Steel matches on the 1st Saturday of each month - Public range access for practice shooting
The club maintains a family-friendly atmosphere while focusing on improving firearm proficiency and safety for shooters of all ages and experience levels. New shooters are always welcome. Annual membership can be managed through the PracticeScore platform.
Range use is completely free. However, shooters are responsible for bringing their own targets and target stands, as these are not provided. Match scoring and registration are handled through PracticeScore.
