Maine Concealed Handgun Permit

Maine Concealed Handgun Permit Training provides firearms instruction and concealed carry permit preparation throughout all 16 Maine counties, from Kittery to Lubec, including Portland, Lewiston, Augusta, and surrounding areas. They operate training facilities in Waterford and Harrison.

• •Daily CCW Training by Appointment — Classes scheduled throughout the year to meet Maine permit application requirements. Maine State Police require in-person training (online courses are not accepted).
• •NRA-Certified Courses — Includes Fundamental Handgun Safety & Proficiency, NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home, and NRA Basic Pistol Shooting (blended format).
• •Experienced Shooter Private Development — One-on-one sessions for advanced shooters or permit renewal training.
• •Maine Firearms Law Module — Deep dive into justified use of deadly and non-deadly force, civilian self-defense law, and no-carry zones. Taught with Attorney John Chapman, a recognized Maine firearms law authority. Available standalone for $35 or included with full courses.
• •Situational Awareness Training — "Adapt and Overcome" focused instruction.

Maine State Police "strongly recommends that all persons carrying firearms be familiar with firearm safety and the circumstances under which deadly force may be used."

• •Reciprocity Coverage: A Maine resident CCW permit qualifies for carry in 33 states—Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming (effective August 2025).

• •Deep Maine Firearms Law Knowledge: Their Maine Firearms Law curriculum covers five situations where deadly force may legally protect persons, premises, and property. Students learn critical concepts like "necessity," "reasonable belief," "imminent threat," and when civilian use of force is justified. The password-protected Maine Firearms Law page includes hundreds of hours of legal research and statutory references, available 24/7 to clients.
