Skowhegan Sportsmans Club is a premier shooting facility and outdoor education center located in Skowhegan, Maine. Founded in 1950, this NRA-affiliated club serves sportsmen and women from across Maine and beyond, offering a comprehensive range of shooting sports, safety courses, and conservation education programs.
The club features multiple specialized ranges to accommodate different shooting disciplines:
- •50-Yard Pistol Range with covered shooting positions
- •300-Yard Rifle Range with covered shooting positions
- •Shotgun Sports Fields featuring trap and 5-stand dual-field configuration, with a soft opening planned for 2026 on a trap/skeet dual field
All ranges are designed for both competitive shooting and recreational use, with protective cover to accommodate Maine's weather conditions.
The heated clubhouse can accommodate approximately 125 people and features a full kitchen, making it ideal for club events, educational programs, and member gatherings. The facility hosts hunter safety courses, firearms training, archery instruction, and other outdoor education programs open to the public.
Skowhegan Sportsmans Club is committed to community education and hosts numerous safety and skill courses:

- •Archery and Crossbow Safety instruction
- •Project Appleseed marksmanship program (annual event)
- •First Aid and Stop the Bleed courses
- •Local law enforcement qualifications
- •Hunter sight-in days
Membership is required for general range use, though the facility opens to the public during announced organized shoots and safety courses. The club boasts members from 31 towns across Maine and continues to grow. Membership meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Skowhegan Sportsmans Club supports local education and youth programs, including scholarships for students pursuing automotive and outdoor recreational studies. The club partners with Maine Fish and Wildlife and maintains affiliations with the NRA, Sportsmans Alliance of Maine, and Gun Owners of Maine.
