Commonwealth Firearms & Training Center isn't just teaching firearms safety—they wrote the textbook on it. Literally. Since 2013, they've been the go-to school for anyone in Massachusetts or Rhode Island who needs firearms certification.

Massachusetts LTC/FID Certification is their core offering. Four-hour classroom course covering all state requirements, taught by Kathleen Scallon. No range time needed. The course materials include their own published textbook covering Massachusetts firearms law—current and comprehensive.

• •Classical Approach: $150 (goes deep: covers 350+ years of firearms law history, the Constitution, relevant Supreme Court cases, and MA General Law Chapter 140)

NRA Certifications include Basic Pistol ($200, includes range time and qualification) and Basic Rifle ($225, classroom only). They also offer combinations that bundle NRA courses with state requirements—like NRA Basic Pistol + RI Certification ($450, pistols and ammo supplied).

They wrote the textbook. Literally. Their Third Edition Massachusetts Basic Pistol Firearms Course is the material used in their classes and available for purchase separately.

They don't require range time for most certification paths (the state doesn't mandate it for LTC/FID). They offer women-only instruction. They provide on-site FBI fingerprinting for Florida CCW courses. They've been consistent since 2013 while the industry changed around them.
