The Village Gunsmith has operated in North Dartmouth since 1971, when owner Kenneth Pacheco started the shop out of a lifelong passion for firearms. Ken served apprenticeships under George Strickland and Edward Lander (a full-time gunsmith since 1945), then spent decades mastering every aspect of the trade through hands-on work and self-study.
This isn't a general gun shop. Ken handles the work that most dealers won't touch:
The Flintlock Project: Ken built a New England-style flintlock rifle entirely by hand starting in 1984—852 hours over four years. He hand-fabricated all small parts, inletted and shaped the stock with chisels and rasps, and made screws and pins from low-carbon steel. It won several local muzzleloading competitions.
