Thin Line Defense

Thin Line Defense teaches basic firearms safety courses designed specifically to meet Massachusetts License To Carry (LTC) requirements. Their instructors bring real credentials: all are NRA-certified in Home Firearms Safety and Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee-certified. More importantly, they've got the background to back it up.

The Instructors

• •Jim Young (Owner/Lead Instructor): 20+ years law enforcement, 10+ years regional SWAT Team experience
• •Josh Collins (Co-Founder/Sr. Instructor): 20+ years law enforcement, several years regional SWAT Team service
• •Cayden Young (Assistant Instructor): Competition shooter who started young and now teaches others

The Basic Firearms Safety Class combines classroom lecture, group discussion, and hands-on exercises. The course fulfills the current requirement to apply for your Massachusetts LTC. The structure is built for people with little to no firearms experience—they walk you through how firearms actually work, not just the legal requirements.

The instructors take knowledge from their NRA training and combine it with law enforcement background to create a classroom experience that ensures students understand both what they need for the LTC and the fundamentals of how firearms operate.

Thin Line Defense evolved from Reaper Tactical. The team has maintained continuity through significant losses—they continue the mission in memory of Officer Mike Lee, whose passion for training inspired their commitment to education. The brotherhood among these instructors translates directly into how they teach.
