Michigan's Premier CCW Training at Michigan Tech
This is the course you take to get your Michigan Concealed Pistol License. Taught by Jeff Stroud, MTU's Range Master and founder of 906 Tactical, the curriculum covers real-world carry scenarios—not just home defense theory. The Michigan Coalition of Responsible Gun Owners curriculum gets supplemented with additional instruction Stroud feels you'll actually need to prevail in any encounter.
What You Get
- •Morning session (8am-12pm): Classroom instruction, SDC Room 238
- •Afternoon range (12pm-3pm): Live fire training, firearms proficiency test
- •Final session (3pm-5pm): Written exam and wrap-up
No firearms experience necessary. Course materials provided day-of. You supply your own 100 rounds of ammunition.
Requirements & Testing
You must pass both a firearms proficiency test and written exam to complete the course. Class size is limited, so registration fills up—the February 2026 session is already full. Minimum age is 18.
