Keene Training & Consulting

Keene Training & Consulting LLC was founded in 2013 by Paul Beasinger, a 25-year veteran of the Lansing Police Department and former Lieutenant. The entire team is built from retired law enforcement professionals—detectives, captains, and sergeants with hundreds of high-risk incidents and specialized tactical experience between them. This isn't theoretical training. This is people who've actually done the work.

Keene offers private firearms instruction tailored to your skill level, whether you're picking up a gun for the first time or you're already trained. All courses are hands-on and scenario-based, conducted in a controlled environment.

Available programs:

• •Introduction to Handguns — Safety, handling fundamentals, and shooting basics for beginners
• •Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL) Certification — 8-hour course meeting state requirements, taught by MCRGO-certified instructors. Keene provides the firearm, ammunition, hearing protection, eye protection, and all materials. Rain or shine.
• •Private Lessons — One-on-one instruction or group sessions (up to 10 people). Can focus on handguns, shotguns, or rifles. Two to three hours per session.

Beyond firearms, Keene specializes in keeping organizations safe through preparation and prevention.

Core programs:

Keene partners with Command Presence Training to deliver current, evidence-based instruction for police departments. Courses cover officer safety, leadership development, instructor training, and tactical response. Most qualify for POST funding and continuing education credit.

Lt. Beasinger also provides expert witness consulting for police use-of-force cases, backed by over 1,200 case reviews.
