Freedom Firearms teaches Michigan Concealed Pistol License classes at 539 Capital Ave SW in Battle Creek. They focus on one thing: training you to get your CPL the right way, not the cheap way.

The $149 class runs 8 AM to 4 PM and includes range fees, hearing/eye protection, handgun rental if you need it, and ammunition. They provide a free Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals book ($26.95 value). Coffee and lunch (usually pizza) are part of the day.

You start in the classroom covering pistol safety, gun types, and what to consider before buying. Then defensive shooting fundamentals—aiming, grip, real threat recognition. After lunch, you dive into Michigan law: use of deadly force, where you can carry, police encounters, civil liability.

Then you head to the range. After a safety briefing, you apply everything you learned—shooting positions, point shooting, defensive accuracy, accelerated shooting. Instructors work 1-on-1 with you at the line.

"Never shot a gun before? That's our specialty. We will work with you 1 on 1 at the range. I promise by the end of it you will feel like $1,000,000 or you can take our class again for free."

They keep class sizes small. You get personal coaching instead of being one face in a 50-person cattle call. No ego, no instructors spending hours telling war stories.

If you don't own a gun, you rent one for $30 and try different firearms during class. That's how you figure out what actually fits your hand and what you like to shoot—not just what the internet told you to buy.
