The rifle features a patented ignition system with a lugged, locking bolt and two blow-by ports to prevent primer blowback. It's been in retail production since 2001 with consistently strong reviews from serious hunters.

Gone are the days of removing breech plugs and scrubbing tiny parts. The Johnston Muzzleloader is engineered to such tight tolerances that fouling doesn't blow down the breech threads. Two to three cleaning patches between shots takes about a minute—roughly the same maintenance as a centerfire rifle.

Instead of struggling with tiny percussion caps or .209 primers, the Johnston uses a unique patented .45 caliber brass casing with a magnum rifle primer—ten times hotter than standard .209s. The casing surrounds the nipple, preventing any blow back. You get clean casings each shot that can be reprimed and reused.

Ultimate Firearms' newest offering solves a problem for hunters in restricted states. The Game Breaker is a straight-wall casing rifle legal in shotgun-only deer zones:
