Sam Brooks, a 2013 'Entrepreneur of the Year' nominee, started Brooks Defense Solutions to fill a gap he saw in his community. The COVID-19 pandemic and civil unrest highlighted how many people lacked practical self-protection knowledge. His mission: realistic, cost-effective training that prepares people for worst-case scenarios.
Brooks isn't just a firearms instructor. He's a 1st degree black belt in Taekwondo (2004), studied Aikido and Karate-Do, and spent 4+ years in armed security doing loss prevention and private protection work. He's also currently serving on a church security team in the Lansing area.
On the firearms side: USCCA Certified Instructor and Range Safety Officer, NRA Range Development and Operations certified, and over a decade of hands-on firearm experience starting from childhood. He's trained under multiple martial arts masters and completed Emergency Preparedness Fundamentals through USCCA.
Special Focus: Brooks is passionate about training newcomers and people with disabilities—often overlooked groups in firearms and self-defense instruction.
