Great Lakes Sports & Recreation Club operates as a 501(c)(3) non-profit in Escanaba. Unlike commercial ranges, the club runs almost entirely on membership dues (35% of budget) and user fees—the rest comes from donations and volunteer work. They've grown significantly over the past decade and continue expanding their offerings.
The club runs competitive leagues year-round:
Shooting Sports: - Archery - Indoor leagues begin mid-January, run 12 weeks. Friday nights 7-9pm and Sundays 1pm. - Pistol - Starts January 6th with divisions for auto, revolver, open, .22 pistol, .22 revolver, snubnose, youth, ladies, and couples (new for 2026). - 22 Rifle - Indoor league (8 weeks starting January 6th) and outdoor league (starts January). - Winter Shotgun - Skeet and 5 Stand (Dec-Feb), Sundays at noon. Glow/black light 5 Stand Tuesday/Wednesday at 6pm.
Social Leagues: - Pool League - Tuesdays 7pm, informal format with 2-person team draws. - Darts - Tuesdays 7pm, random format. - Bean Bag - Wednesdays 7pm, 12-week mixed doubles with $7 buy-in and weekly cash payouts.
League fees help cover the end-of-year awards banquet.
CPL Certification Classes - Contact Bill Cobb at 906-786-2911 for 2025 dates. Classes run 8:30am-5pm (bring your own lunch). Fees: $100 members / $120 non-members. Class size is limited.

All membership dues run January 1 - December 31. Youth 15 and under shoot free (with adult supervision) though league fees still apply.
The club hosts the Wild Game Feed (January 31st, 2026) with raffles, door prizes, and 50/50 drawings. They actively seek donations, volunteers, and wild game contributions. An annual meeting in mid-January covers club operations and allows member input on planning.
