01 // OVERVIEW
Location details and information
Founded in 1978 by sportsmen from Hurley, Ironwood, and surrounding areas, the Superior Range Sportsman's Club has evolved from a simple recreational shooting facility into a regional hub for firearms education and training. Today it operates as a not-for-profit, volunteer-run organization on 32 acres in scenic Gogebic County—just south of the Copper Peak Ski Flying Hill.
The club maintains dedicated ranges for all major shooting disciplines:
Each round of 5 Stand offers 25 birds and includes all types of aerial targets and rabbit clay targets. Shooters need to bring their own ammunition and shotguns.
The new 5-Stand range features 8 wireless remote-controlled traps and 5 shooting stations lined up next to each other—a compact version of full sporting clays. The club specifically built this to introduce the community to a realistic way to sharpen bird hunting skills.
Volunteer-Run Operation: The club has no permanent staff. All operations depend on member volunteers, so plan accordingly for response times and availability.
