Minnesota Gun Class - Montevideo teaches the state-required certification course for concealed carry permits. Over 50,000 Minnesotans have completed their training. A single course qualifies you to apply for both a Minnesota Permit to Carry (valid 5 years, recognized in 33 states) and a Florida Concealed Weapon License (valid 7 years).
The class splits into two parts: classroom session followed by range qualification.
Classroom Topics: - Four universal firearm safety rules and handling practices - Handgun operation, components, loading/unloading, and maintenance - Shooting fundamentals: grip, stance, sight alignment, trigger control - Legal use of force—when you can use it, when you can't, the aftermath - Physiological responses to violent encounters and stress management - Personal protection planning and situational awareness - Minnesota carry law and reciprocity in other states - Gear selection: holsters, retention systems, storage solutions
Range Session: Live-fire qualification under instructor supervision. Not a comprehensive skills course—it's designed to confirm you can safely fire a handgun. If you're unfamiliar with your firearm, rent one of theirs for $10 (includes ammunition).
Anyone can take it. No prior shooting experience required. The class is structured for complete beginners through experienced shooters. Must be 18+, U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, and pass a background check.

You carry the ability to protect life and also inflict death. The law holds concealed carry permit holders to a higher standard of conduct.
- •Minnesota Permit: Apply in person at your local sheriff's office with your course certificate, completed Permit to Carry application, and $100 cash. Valid 5 years.
- •Florida Permit: Apply by mail. Valid 7 years. Same course qualifies you for both.
