Sand Pine Pheasants Family Recreation operates a hunting preserve on Norway Road in Avon, MN, northwest of St. Cloud just off Interstate 94. They're roughly one hour and 20 minutes from Target Field in Minneapolis—close enough for Twin Cities day trips, far enough to feel remote.

• •Field Hunts run three time slots daily:
• •Morning hunts: 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM
• •Midday hunts: 11:15 AM - 2:15 PM (new for 2023)
• •Afternoon hunts: 2:30 PM - dusk

They maintain seven different fields, each with unique terrain and cover. Minimums vary by day: - Weekdays: 6 pheasants minimum (or 3 per hunter, whichever is higher) - Weekends: 9 pheasants minimum (or 3 per hunter, whichever is higher) - Holidays: Call for pricing

• •European Hunts are high-volume, fast-paced events. Hunters rotate through 10 shooting stations surrounding a release area. Birds fly up to 175 feet overhead, over trees and hilly terrain. Standard European Hunt: $355 per person (10 birds per hunter, 20-40 shooters). Includes trained retrievers and dog handlers, cleaned birds, snacks, beverages, and a King's Feast after. Custom hunts available for groups of 10-30 shooters on your schedule.

• •Guided Hunts with trained retrievers:
• •Up to 3 hours: $100.00 + tip
• •Up to 6 hours: $200.00 + tip

Sand Pine is the Metro and Greater Minnesota Action TrackChair dealer. They keep multiple models in their showroom and actively integrate them into hunts. The Action TrackChair has a patented electric tilt mechanism, swing-up arms, adjustable footrests, and comes in 5 models with 14 sizes and numerous color options.

You can demo an Action TrackChair or use one for a hunt at no charge—just reserve when scheduling. A 97-year-old World War II veteran (Robert Boyd, wounded at Iwo Jima) hunted at Sand Pine for the first time in over 5 years using their TR2020 stand-up model and shot 3 birds. All European Hunt shooting stations are handicap accessible.

Sand Pine now offers overnight lodging during hunting season. Book your stay when you schedule your hunt.

They run a Family Recreation Rewards Membership Program with discounts and savings. Membership is optional—it's an enhancement to your experience, not required to hunt.

• •Always keep muzzle pointed in a safe direction
• •Keep guns unloaded when not in use
• •Don't rely on the safety—treat every gun as if it can fire
• •Be sure of your target and what's beyond it
• •Use correct ammunition
• •Always wear eye and ear protection
• •Clear the barrel before shooting
• •Don't modify your gun; have it serviced regularly
• •Never mix alcohol or drugs with guns
• •Never handle a gun without adult supervision
