Full description and what we offer
Adventures Outfitting has operated in Southwestern Montana since 1986, built on the foundation of more than 35 years of combined outfitting experience from owners Tim Beardsley and Mike Myer. Their guides bring another 50+ years of professional service to the field. This isn't a new operation—they know the territory.
Lee Metcalf Wilderness Hunts
Adventures holds the exclusive USFS permit for the northern Lee Metcalf Wilderness and surrounding public lands. This area overlooks Montana's Madison Valley and holds a large resident elk herd with genuine diversity—deer, black bear, and other wildlife. Historical success rates run 50%, with ranges of 30-80% depending on weather and hunter fitness.
You hunt on horseback from the ranch, riding into the Wilderness each morning after a hot breakfast. Evenings mean hot showers, home-cooked meals, and comfortable cabins. Some early season archery hunts use backcountry camps.
| Hunt Type | Timing | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Archery Elk/Deer (2 hunters/guide) | September rut | $6,200-$6,500 |
| Archery Elk/Deer (1 hunter/guide) | September rut | $9,300-$9,700 |
| Rifle (general season) | Late Oct-Nov | Same rates |
| Spring Bear | Spring | $4,800 |
Fees include ranch accommodations, guide services, horses, game retrieval and pre-taxidermy care. Licenses are additional.
Trophy Bull Elk Ranch Hunts
Adventures controls an exclusive lease covering over 26 square miles of prime elk territory. The resident herd exceeds 800 elk with minimal hunting pressure—bulls reach maturity here. Rifle hunters see 70-100% success rates. In the entire history of the ranch, all rifle hunters except one have pulled the trigger.
This is fair chase hunting, not a game ranch. Hunters leave vehicles at the gate and hunt on foot and horseback through rolling sage, pine hills, and grassy meadows. Limited archery and rifle openings available (2026 is fully booked; waiting list for future years).
Archery hunts run five days in September during the rut. Rifle hunts run five days, late October through November. One guide per two hunters.
| Hunt Type | Cost |
|---|---|
| 2 hunters/guide | $9,500/hunter |
| 1 hunter/guide | $11,500 |
Elk license must be drawn. Application deadline: April 1. Fee includes hunting privileges, accommodations, guides, horses, game retrieval, and trophy care.
Section available on website for detailed packing lists for both hunt types.
