Full description and what we offer
Big Sky Guide and Outfitters carries forward a hunting tradition founded by Tom Brogan, now led by Russell Burnap. All hunts take place on private leased land in the Bridger Mountains—horseback and foot access only, no motorized vehicles.
Elk Hunts — September archery (peak rut) and October-November rifle season, both at $6,000 for either-sex tags (4-point minimum on bulls). Cow hunts run August 15-30 and during rifle season at $3,000. One-on-one guides available for +$1,500. Hunts are 5 days, Monday-Friday.
Deer Hunts — Mule deer and whitetail during October-November rifle season at $3,000 for 5 days. Can be combined with elk tags on a combo license.
Black Bear Hunts — Spring and fall in the Bridger Mountains at $3,000. Late September/early October produces larger bears bulking for winter. The region has a notable population of color phase bears.
Limited to six hunters per week with one guide for every two clients—this isn't a factory operation. After each day, clients return to the backcountry lodge where a full-time cook handles meals. Accommodations include a guest cabin with hot showers and warm beds, or wall tents with wood-burning stoves and solid floors (ideal for archery season and August cow hunts).
Breakfast happens before dawn. Hunts cover 10+ miles daily across varied terrain. If an animal is taken, it's quartered on-site and iced at camp. Clients can arrange local meat processing.
Meals, lodging, guide service, horse transportation during hunts, and game transport to the butcher or your vehicle. License, taxidermy, and processing are separate. Gratuity (10% recommended) splits among staff.
