Montana Hunting Company

Montana Hunting Company evolved from Arnaud Outfitting, established in 1996 by Rob Arnaud. In 2011, the operation consolidated big game and bison hunting under the current name. Rob retired in 2020, and Wayne Wilcox took over as CEO and acting outfitter (MT Outfitter #53733).

The company hunts across multiple high-quality private ranches in Montana, California, Colorado, and Wyoming. Their success comes down to four things: superb hunting properties, cooperative landowners, professional staff, and repeat customers.

• •Elk Hunts — Their specialty. Rifle elk runs late October through November on professionally managed ranches with bulls typically scoring 320-360 B&C. Archery elk hunts September through October focus on calling and intercepting bugling bulls during the rut—described as "the way elk should be hunted."

• •Mule Deer & Whitetail — Both species hunted October through November on large private ranches. Mule deer average 160-180+ B&C on premier properties. Whitetail typically score 130-145 B&C, with larger bucks reaching 160-170 B&C. Both can be hunted standalone or added to elk hunts.

• •Bison Hunts — Conducted late June through August on a 115,000-acre ranch supporting ~2,300 animals. Hunts target the pre-rut and rut when beards and hair are longest. Mature bulls weigh up to 2,500 lbs and score 65-75 SCI. Limited archery bison hunts available.

• •Antelope Hunts — Archery hunts mid-August through early September; rifle hunts October through November. Most bucks average 13-14 inches with spot-and-stalk methods. Montana tags issued through drawing; applications due June 1st annually.

• •Bird Hunts — Waterfowl and upland game on an Eastern Montana ranch. Pheasant, sharp-tail grouse, ducks, and geese. Hunters can bring their own dogs or use provided dogs.

Hunter success rates are consistently high across all species. All rifle hunts are conducted in general units, eliminating licensing problems. The archery elk program gets the full rut season—a rare advantage in Montana.
