Full description and what we offer
Montana Outfitting Company specializes in guided hunting expeditions for serious hunters. Whether you're after elk, deer, antelope, upland game, or pursuing predators and varmints, they pair you with experienced guides licensed by Montana's Department of Labor and Industry.
Archery season hunters are exempt from Montana's 400 square inch hunter orange requirement.
They handle the logistics so you focus on hunting. Professional guides navigate you through Montana's terrain and game. Once you harvest an animal, their on-site taxidermist handles the work—skinning and full mount options available. Meat processing is done by a professional processor in Big Sandy, MT, with custom cuts to your preference. You can donate your meat to the local food bank or have it shipped to you (at your expense).
Montana weather swings hard. Archery season runs 70° days and 30° nights; rifle season averages 40° days and 10° nights (sometimes colder). They recommend three-layer dressing: base layer, fleece insulation, and waterproof shell. Bring licenses, heavy boots, gloves, hats, and a balaclava. They can make brief stops on the way from the airport if you need last-minute gear.
"Temperatures can reach 70° (day) & 30° (night) during archery season & 40° (day) and 10° (night) during rifle season."
Rifles: No caliber limits for big game. They recommend .243 and up for deer/antelope, .270 and up for elk. Core-lock bullets preferred, sighted 1–3 inches high at 100 yards.
Bows: 28 inches minimum (axle to axle), max 80% let-off. Arrows must be 20+ inches, weigh 300+ grains with broadhead. Broadheads need two cutting edges; expandables legal if 7/8" wide and 70+ grains. No electronic sights or luminous arrows.
Lodging available for multi-day hunts. Alcohol permitted (bring your own), but absolutely no consumption while hunting. If a hunter in your group gets an animal early, they can watch TV, read, hike, or observe taxidermy work while other hunters continue.
Antelope can be added to big game rifle combos during the first two weeks of rifle season (before antelope drop their sheaths).
