Full description and what we offer
Rhynard Ranch sits high in the rugged Castle Mountains of Southwest-Central Montana, a working cattle ranch since the 1880s. The operation spans 3,000 acres of private land with thousands of adjoining National Forest, offering serious hunters access to elk, deer, moose, antelope, and more without the overhead of guided hunts.
The Castle Mountains and surrounding wilderness hold:
Rising to 8,500 feet, the Castle Mountains also hold black bears, mountain lions, moose, marmots, beaver, eagles, hawks, and owls. In 2010, a transitory grizzly was sighted 5-10 miles away—the only recorded sighting in over 80 years.
You'll stay in a completely refurbished, fully modernized 120-year-old ranch homestead cabin located a secluded half-mile from the main ranch. It's designed for self-sufficient hunters—you manage your own schedule, your own hunts, your own pace.
Beyond hunting season, the ranch offers hiking, wildlife photography, bird watching, fishing, and backcountry camping across thousands of acres of pristine mountain terrain.
The ranch nurtures the headwaters of the Musselshell and Smith Rivers. Lush meadows, aspen and Douglas fir stands, wildflowers, and limitless starry nights complete the setting.
