Rimrock Defensive Innovations teaches what works. Brett built his curriculum from techniques learned at Gunsite Academy, Thunder Ranch, Mike Seeklander's Shooting Performance, and Front Sight—not from a textbook. Every class reflects real-world defensive shooting and competition experience.
Beginner-Level Classes: - Intro to Firearms – Safe handling, parts/functions, loading, unloading, grip, stance, sight alignment - CCW & Concealed Carry – Gun fundamentals, drawing from holster, malfunction clearing, concealed carry garments and methods, Yellowstone County permit requirement coverage - Defensive Handgun – Shooting from multiple positions, engaging threats, reloading under stress, cover and concealment - Defensive Shotgun – Pump-action focus (all types discussed), shotgun types, ammunition selection, home defense specifics, engagement 5-25 yards - Defensive Rifle – Core rifle fundamentals and tactical application - Intro to Competitive Shooting – USPSA match rules, stage planning, moving and shooting, target engagement 3-15 yards
Advanced Training: - Tactical Handgun – Requires completion of Defensive Handgun or equivalent skills. Covers shooting on the move, low-light engagement, alternate positions, close-contact response, one-handed reloads and malfunction clearing - Situational Awareness & Personal Protection – Strategic training beyond marksmanship

Ammunition Requirements (bring your own): - Defensive Handgun: 100+ rounds - Defensive Shotgun: 50 rounds #8 bird shot, 20 rounds 00 buckshot, 10 rounds slugs - Tactical Handgun: 200+ rounds - Intro to Competitive Shooting: 200+ rounds
Brett maintains a reading list covering handgun fundamentals, rifle tactics, shotgun application, personal protection strategy, and military history—all sourced from proven instructors and combat shooting experts.
