Full description and what we offer
Ron Attanasio is a retired professor from the UNMC College of Dentistry who brings actual education background to firearms instruction. He holds multiple certifications: Nebraska State Patrol Certified Concealed Handgun Permit Instructor, NRA Certified Basic Pistol Instructor, and NRA Certified Range Officer. He's also a Master-level competitor in Glock Sport Shooting Foundation competitions and has been shooting handgun competitions since 2001.
His training résumé includes advanced coursework from recognized names in the industry—Massad Ayoob, Tom Givens, Chris Zeeb, and others. He's trained on tactical medicine, church security, de-escalation, and the legal aspects of lethal force with actual attorneys and subject-matter experts.
Nebraska Concealed Handgun Permit Course - $175 per person - Full-day instruction (8am-5pm typical) - Includes 162-page course manual, classroom materials, and range time - Certificate of completion same day upon successful completion - Payment by check or cash only (keeps costs down) - Registration deadline: 1 week before class date
Basic Handgun Course - $85 per person (range fees separate) - 2-3 hours classroom, 1 hour range time - Covers fundamentals, safety, mechanics, shooting skills, maintenance - You bring your own handgun and 100 rounds of ammunition - Eye and hearing protection required (can rent at Thunder Alley) - Registration deadline: 2 weeks before class date
"Will travel outside of Lincoln to provide the Nebraska Concealed Handgun Permit course in other locations in Nebraska. Fee: $125/person plus travel costs (federal mileage rate), lodging if needed, and range fees at your location."
Attanasio isn't running a strip-mall operation. He's a lifelong educator with deep involvement in competitive shooting and real advanced training. His memberships include the Armed Citizens' Legal Defense Network—not just NRA. He serves on his church's armed security team. The training reflects actual defensive handgun knowledge, not just state-minimum instruction to check a box.
Classes are small enough to get real feedback. You're not in a cattle-call CCW class with 50 people. He'll customize dates and locations if standard schedules don't work.
