Full description and what we offer

BigBang Defense runs firearms training courses out of Grand Island, Nebraska, focusing on real-world threat defense and practical pistol skills. Owner DJ Dramse is a certified law enforcement officer since 2007 with credentials as a Nebraska CHP instructor, rifle instructor, and PPCT trainer. The instruction team also includes Ryan Hand, a USCCA-certified concealed carry instructor with church safety and precision training certifications.

  • Concealed Carry (6-7 hours, $100) - The flagship course covers Nebraska's CCW requirements. Includes classroom instruction via PowerPoint, written exam, and a 30-round qualifying shoot at the range. Must hit 21 of 30 shots using the FBI Q Target (6 shots at 3 feet, 12 at 9 feet, 6 at 15 feet, 6 at 21 feet). No time limit, any handgun caliber acceptable.
  • Beginners Handgun (4 hours, $100) - Covers safe gun handling, weapon selection, nomenclature and manipulation, ammunition options, storage and maintenance, and shooting fundamentals. Good entry point if you're new to pistols.
  • Intermediate Handgun (approximately 250 rounds) - Builds defensive shooting skills, home safety strategy, violent confrontation response, firearms law, and self-defense handgun selection. Ammunition supplied by student.
  • Women's Only Courses - Offered for both concealed carry and beginners handgun. Built around smaller group comfort and women-specific instruction.
  • Military/Veteran/First Responder: $80 for concealed carry (with valid ID)
  • Groups of 8+: Discounted rates available
  • Groups of 10+: Can request private classes (full price, but in your preferred location and time)

What to Bring: Handgun in safe working condition, two magazines/speed loaders, minimum 100 rounds of ammo in your caliber, eye and ear protection, holster, valid driver's license or Nebraska ID. Outdoor range gear (hat, sunscreen, water) recommended.

Classes range from 18+ (all courses except concealed carry, which requires 21+ for the permit itself—though 18-20 year-olds can take the course and use the training for 3 years). After registration, you get an email reminder with specific requirements. The easygoing atmosphere balances serious instruction from experienced trainers.
