Mike Foley is a U.S. Army veteran who's been shooting for over 50 years. His training company fills a specific gap: helping new gun owners AND experienced shooters get solid instruction in safety, skills, and responsible ownership. This isn't just another "buy a gun and hope" situation—training matters because shooting is a perishable skill.
Foley Firearms Training instructors hold credentials across multiple agencies:
All assistants are either NRA Instructors, Military Instructors/Rangemasters, or POST Certified.
The newly required 16-hour initial and 8-hour renewal courses are now available. This is the legal qualification path for Riverside County concealed carry permits.
Initial Applicants (16 hours total — $350) - Must take ALPHA COURSE (8 hours, Saturday) FIRST - Then take BRAVO COURSE (8 hours, Sunday or later) - Can split across multiple weekends if needed - Covers draw technique, safety, threat awareness, controlled/rapid fire, movement - Qualification shoot: 18 rounds from 7, 10, and 15 yards on police B-27 target (70% minimum)
Renewal Applicants (8 hours total — $175) - Only take BRAVO COURSE (8 hours) - Re-qualification with weapons plus classroom portion - Same ammunition and target requirements as initial
Key Details: - Up to 6 weapons can be qualified per license - Initial courses use 200-250 rounds for primary weapon - Renewal courses need 18 rounds per weapon (30 if applying via MyCCW.us for Murrieta, Menifee, Hemet, Banning, or Beaumont) - Must complete within 180 days of interview date - Outside-the-waistband (OWB) holster required for initial (Safariland, Fobus, BladeTech acceptable; Serpa-style discouraged) - Kydex mag pouch recommended; minimum 2 magazines (3 highly recommended) - Electronic ear protection preferred - Weather-appropriate clothing, no open-toed shoes
Book early: Training must fall within 180 days of your interview date, so register as soon as you start your CCW application.
Intermediate Pistol Course — $300 - Prerequisite: thorough knowledge of safety and your personal firearm - Topics: mindset, safety, draw technique, target acquisition, threat awareness, controlled and rapid fire, simple movement - Requires 200-300 rounds - Group and couples discounts available
Additional Training Available: - Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Rifle courses - Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Shotgun courses - Family Safety Classes - Private sessions by the hour - Custom-tailored training on request
Students of most ages. Family training is their specialty. They enjoy working with complete beginners as much as advanced shooters. The philosophy is straightforward: just buying a weapon isn't enough. Get trained. Keep training. Skills fade.
