Full description and what we offer
Nevada High Ridge Outfitters operates from Lovelock and specializes in hunting some of the largest elk in the western United States. Every elk hunt includes 2 guides for every hunter—this ratio exists both to ensure success and to handle and harvest these massive animals safely. They run archery hunts for giant bull elk, offering a more challenging and effective hunting method for serious hunters.
Communication happens before you ever apply for the draw. The team talks with hunters about which units match their expectations, experience level, and trophy goals. When you draw a tag, accommodations are discussed to ensure hunter comfort in camp.
| Hunt Type | Season | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Elk | Draw-based | 2 guides per hunter; archery available |
| Bighorn Sheep | Draw-based | Desert and California sheep; 10 Heritage tag holders hunted |
| Mule Deer | October | Guided draw available for non-residents in February |
| Mountain Lion | December–March | Over-the-counter tags; proven hound dogs |
| Antelope | Late summer | Archery for 70"+; rifle after archery season |
Mountain lion season runs December through March with over-the-counter tags—no draw needed. Nevada High Ridge uses experienced hound dogs that have been hunting for up to 12 years, known for success even in dry conditions. They deploy ATVs, Arctic Cat prowlers with snow tracks, and 4-wheel drive pickups to hunt across varied terrain.
Non-residents: Contact the outfitters in early February about the Guide's Draw for mule deer hunts.
Bighorn hunting—whether Desert sheep or California sheep—is treated as the rare opportunity it is. Having worked with 10 different Heritage tag holders, Nevada High Ridge has hunted most Nevada units and can match hunters with their ideal terrain and trophy potential. They handle application assistance and camp logistics.
Antelope hunts focus on archery for Pope & Young bucks (70"+) with rifle hunts following to capitalize on scouting intel. Mule deer hunts take place in October across Nevada's desert country. The philosophy here is simple: the trophy is in the eye of the beholder. They work to ensure hunters apply for units that match their actual trophy standards.
Beyond Nevada, they also offer hunts in New Zealand for red stag, tahr, fallow deer, chamois, and Arapawa ram.
