Covered Bridge Sports started in 1948 as a Western Auto store run by brothers Rip and Bob Merrill. What began as a general store supplying skis and everyday goods evolved into something bigger. After Rip returned from Navy service, he married Norman Beardsworth's daughter Norma, and together they grew the business. By 1977, they'd outgrown downtown Dover and moved to their current location on New Rochester Road.
Today, the Merrill family operates what they call:
