Full description and what we offer
The Forsaith-Drowne Post 108 Junior Shooting Sports Club is a youth-focused air rifle shooting program sponsored by the Chester American Legion in Chester, New Hampshire. Since 2003, this community-based organization has provided comprehensive firearm safety training and competitive marksmanship instruction for young shooters.
The club operates a 10-meter air rifle shooting course aligned with the nationwide American Legion program. Designed for boys and girls ages 11-17, the program emphasizes gun safety, self-discipline, and marksmanship skills. The full-year curriculum runs from September through June, with all necessary shooting equipment provided at no cost to participants.
New students begin with four weeks of intensive classroom instruction held at the Legion Hall in Chester center. This foundational phase covers:
Starting in week five, beginners transition to live fire at the Chester Rod and Gun Club, which generously donates range facilities for Thursday night sessions. After initial range introduction, new shooters alternate weekly with the advanced competitive team.
The program culminates in mid-June with an awards dinner recognizing top performers. Trophies are awarded to the top three shooters in both beginner and advanced categories, plus special recognition for most consistent and most improved athletes.
