Runenation Firearms Consulting was started by Ian, a former 3rd Battalion/2nd Marines infantryman (2006-2010) who grew frustrated with typical tactical training. After military service, he spent six years as cadre with various training companies, worked executive protection in Boston, and spent time doing door work in less-than-ideal bars—seeing real-world criminal interaction most instructors never experience.

In 2017, he made the jump: leave a full-time job to teach full-time, or live with regret. He chose to build Runenation.
