Shoot-Safe offers the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course in southern New Hampshire, taught by Patrick Lewis, an NRA-certified Basic Pistol Instructor and Range Safety Officer.
The 8-hour course runs over 2 days:
- •Day One: 4 hours classroom instruction (no firearms present)
- •Day Two: 3 hours live fire range time, followed by 1 hour for testing and review
Classes are kept small—no more than 4 students per session for personalized attention.
The curriculum covers:
- •NRA's rules for safe gun handling
- •Pistol parts and operation
- •Ammunition fundamentals
- •Shooting fundamentals and range rules
- •Bench rest and two-handed standing positions
- •Pistol cleaning and maintenance
- •Continued skill development opportunities
- •Firearms and ammunition provided
- •NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook
- •NRA Gun Safety Rules documentation
- •Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination
- •NRA course completion certificate
$100 per person — all materials and range time included
This course is designed for anyone new to firearms or wanting formal safety training—whether you've never held a pistol, own one but lack formal instruction, or want to understand firearms before carrying. Past students report gaining confidence, competence, and an informed respect for firearms.
Patrick Lewis brings years of personal firearms experience and patience with students of all anxiety levels. Students consistently note his clear teaching and ability to make both beginners and nervous learners feel comfortable.
