Limit Outfitters runs guided waterfowl hunts along the New Jersey Shore, where Atlantic Brant, Broadbills, Black Ducks, Oldsquaw, Buffleheads, and sea ducks winter over. The operation is built around one core principle: you hunt with your guide all day, not dropped off in the marsh alone.

You're hunting from a 21' Goliath by Bankes Boats, powered by a 150hp 4-stroke Suzuki outboard. The boat is heated for those brutal mornings and equipped with:

• •Simrad GPS chart plotter
• •2 VHF radios and compass
• •Layout capability for open water diver hunting

Captain Larry Metzger specifically designed the operation around having the right boat for New Jersey's unforgiving open water conditions. While other outfitters sit inside when weather turns, you'll be hunting.

• •Brant Hunts – New Jersey winters over 125,000 brant annually—more than 10 times any other Atlantic Flyway state. Brant are 3.5lb sea geese that decoy readily over custom V-boards. You're shooting birds committed and feet-down coming to your spread.

• •Diver Hunts – Broadbills (Greater and Lesser Scaup), Buffleheads, and Ruddy Ducks. The layout boat hunting is where New Jersey's reputation for gunning comes from. Occasional bonus birds include Redheads, Canvasbacks, and Goldeneyes.

• •Sea Duck Hunts – Various sea duck species available depending on season and conditions.

• •Captain Larry Metzger – Licensed USCG Captain and hunting guide. Waterfowler since age 10. Member of Delta Waterfowl and Ducks Unlimited. Also a proficient fly-fisherman who scouts and trains dogs year-round.

• •Justin "Tex" Amoine – Grew up hunting and fishing the Jersey Coast. Expert on big water gunning. Active in New Jersey Waterfowlers Association and local DU chapters. Runs field trials and maintains sharp retrievers.

Both guides run FC/AFC AKC-titled retrievers. These aren't decoration—they're working dogs that retrieve all day in cold water. The guides glass for birds constantly, work the decoys, and adjust the hunt based on what the birds are doing.

Required: - Valid NJ Hunting License - NJ Duck Stamp & HIP# - Federal Duck Stamp - Shotgun - Non-toxic shells (2 boxes/day minimum)

Recommended: - Warm camouflage clothing - Waders or waterproof clothing - Food and drink

Optional: - Camera - Cooler

Larry recommends steel shot #2 in 3" or 3½" 12-gauge, though you can use whatever you're comfortable with. For chokes, Improved Cylinder, Light Modified, or Modified work best when birds are decoying over your spread.
